The king-size bed and high-quality linens ensured a restful night's sleep, while the spacious bathroom, featuring a walk-in rainforest shower and deep bathtub, provided the perfect space for unwinding.

The spa at Bowood is a haven of tranquility, renowned for its glass-fronted infinity pool and crystal steam room. However, the signature 'Brush with Heaven' treatment is what truly sets it apart. As someone who typically avoids spa treatments due to ticklishness, I was initially nervous about the 90-minute ritual. But I needn't have worried.
This hands-free approach, using soft brushes and warm body oil, stimulates the lymphatic system and provides a sense of total surrender. The therapist's gentle body brushing and rhythmic strokes were incredibly relaxing, and the facial and scalp massage, performed entirely with brushes, were a delightful surprise. It was an experience that allowed me to disconnect from the digital world and truly relax.

Dining at Bowood's flagship Shelburne Restaurant is a sophisticated affair, holding two AA Rosettes. Under the guidance of Executive Head Chef Rupert Taylor, who trained under Heston Blumenthal, the restaurant showcases elevated British cuisine with a strong emphasis on local Wiltshire sourcing. The Stokes Marsh Farm filet steak and grilled monkfish were exceptional, and the cocktail at the library bar set the tone for a memorable dining experience.
